Dr Jill Robbie and Dr Elizabeth Lawson held an online workshop on 23rd February 2023 ,with members of Scottish local authorities, to discuss challenges and opportunities of existing decentralised water and wastewater systems. There was a total of 50 attendees, from 18 different organisations with a high level of engagement throughout the two-hour session.

Themes that arose from discussions in the workshop were the need for education and engagement of the users of existing decentralised systems, clarity over responsibility and management of the systems, as well as the importance of geography and minimum standards.
