The EPSRC Programme Grant on Off-grid Water Technologies Plenary Meeting was held on the 5th September 2023. The event was held as a hybrid meeting, with some attending in-person at the Advanced Research Centre, University of Glasgow and others joining online via Zoom.
The agenda included a welcome from our Principal Investigator, Professor Bill Sloan. Presentations were received from Professors Cindy Smith, Marta Vignola and Dr Fabien Cholet on Biofiltration by Biological Design, and Dr Pritam Das and Dr Andrea Semiao on Visible-light guided coating for sustainable membrane cleaning.
Professor Sloan reflected on our recent participation in the Barra and Vatersay Science Festival and led a participatory discussion on how the EPSRC programme grant can move forward with outreach.
We received a presentation from island representatives for the Carbon Neutral Islands’ (CNI) Project; Shona McLeod represented Barra and Vatersay, Aisling Phillips represented Hoy and Neil Gow represented Islay and Jura.
Dr Jill Robbie then led a participatory discussion around how the EPSRC programme grant can engage with the CNI project.
